The Mark of Athena by Rick Riordan
My favourite book is ‘The Mark of Athena’ by Rick Riordan. This is the third book in The Heroes of Olympus series. The fourth is The House of Hades and will come out in October 2013.
The Mark of Athena is told in third person, but in the thoughts and perspective of four of the main characters, Percy Jackson, Annabeth Chase, Piper McLean and Leo Valdez. Each narrator has four chapters to themselves, which I like because instead of just Percy talking (like in the Percy Jackson and The Olympians series), you get four.
My favourite parts of the book were 1) when Piper, Jason and Percy were meeting Bacchus in Kansas and the Eidolons, spirits from The Underworld, took over Percy and Jason. The heroes fought until Percy/Eidolon knocked Jason/Eidolon out. But before Percy/Eidolon could kill Jason/Eidolon, Blackjack (Percy’s Pegasus) knocked him out cold. 2) When Hazel and Leo met Echo and Narcissus. It was funny when Leo got Hazel to write ‘Team Leo’ and ‘Hot Stuff’ on his clothes and arms. 3) At the end when Annabeth and Percy fell into Tartarus. (It was sad, but it was one of my favourites.)
I cannot wait for The House of Hades!
