The Rescue by Nicholas Sparks
The Rescue by Nicholas Sparks was one of the only books I have ever connected to. I actually cried while reading some books. This is unusual for me because finding books I can get into while reading is hard. Therefor, I rate this book with 5 stars. Nicholas Sparks is a talented writer and his books are commonly read among girls my age.
In this book Taylor McAden, one of the main characters, is a firefighter and goes to extremes to save lives. He takes many risks everyday but the hardest for him to make is falling in love. Usually after saving women, and getting close to them, he leaves when it starts to get too serious. One day a terrible storm hits and single mother of a severely disabled boy, Denise Holton, drives her car off the road. Taylor finds her in the car and when she awakens they realize her son, Kyle, is gone. During this crazy time trying to find Kyle, who Denise devotes her entire life to, Taylor and Denise's relationship takes root. During the story relationships grow between Taylor and Denise, Taylor and his own friends and even Taylor and Kyle. Will Taylor be rescued from a life without love? Or did his painful past shut it out again?
Sparks did a tremendous job pulling at readers' heartstrings and making us think twice about relationships we have with others. The book demonstrates modern relationships and conflicts between love and taking chances. I recommend this book to anybody who loves a good romance and heartfelt stories.
