The Three Words
He says things to me that make me glow
Words I have never heard before
I glance up at his face, notice he is staring
His eyes never leave mine; it's so electrifying
His lips are soft as they caress my cheek
Tingles erupt; my legs go weak
Until they finally land on my parted lips
His hands glide from my face to hold my hips
This moment goes on, it never fades
Time seems to have gone to a different place
Until it's only us wrapped in an embrace
Wonder and trust shining from his face
I will to say the three words longing to break free
But I'm frightened they'll just make a fool of me
So I push them back and keep them there
Just focus on my hands; run them through his hair
But than realization surfaces: I need to speak out
To take that huge leap; at least try to reach out
No matter how hard and no matter how tough
My feelings for him just might be enough
So I glance up at his face, notice that he's still staring
His eyes never leave mine; it's so petrifying
I take a deep breath, trust there's nothing to lose
And with my heart in my mouth, say "I love you"
