Game Face
Put your game face on, all emotions gone
Lock your thoughts away for a while, or forever, to stay
Keep it inside: you don’t need to confide
Ev’ry little suffering ‘cause they can’t change anything
Just another cross to bear
People think that you don’t care;
The truth is you cannot erase the thoughts, just hide them from your face
Maybe it’s a saving grace when bucket loads stream down their face
That your game face won’t wear and tear
From just another cross to bear
Keep still, breathe in and out, though inside you want to shout
Monitors beep all around; she’s got a neck brace, makes no sound
Think back to when you’d dream, when you didn’t long to scream
Keep your game face on; tell yourself, “it won’t be long!”
Just another cross to bear
People think that you don’t care;
The truth is you cannot erase the thoughts, just hide them from your face
Maybe it’s a saving grace when bucket loads stream down their face
That your game face won’t wear and tear
From just another cross to bear
When they ask “are you okay?,” you’ll most likely lie and say,
“I’ve never been better. Why?” and smile though you need to cry
It’s ten-o-clock, it’s time for bed, but you’re about to lose your head
Your game face shatters to the floor, it’ll never be repaired, for sure
Just another fear to face
Just another lonely place
Times remembered will not fade, gray becomes a brighter shade
It’s in the winter, dark and cold
That we find great love to have and hold
Without a game face life’s not fair, but that’s a cross we all must bear
