Left to Stay
(verse 1)
Summer came by
with the taste of the bluest skies
it grabbed my hand
and took me to the field to dance
and as we twirled in the summer air
we had not a single care
(chorus)
‘cause all we could see was the
sun in the sky
and all we could feel
were the stars in our eyes
and though i guess that i
knew it in my
heart
from the very start
that it would end
(verse 2)
winter’s ‘round the bend
and no one’s left holding my hand
in the distance the laughs
sound more like shattered glass
because I didn’t make it last
and now its in the past
(chorus)
all we could see
was the sun in the sky
all we could feel
were the stars in our eyes
and even though
i knew it in my
heart
from the very start
that it would end
(outro/verse 3)
summer’s ran away
and all that’s left to stay
are the freckles
on your skin
and pictures from where you’ve been
but your heart is somewhere else
so you’re stuck here by yourself.
