It’s become an inconvenience to not have your arms wrapped around me as I drift off into my land of nightmares and sleep talking.
Your toes curling around mine has become a comfort I can’t compare to anything but the way the stars surround the moon at night.
But I am alone and I feel so dull.
Without your voice pumping my eardrum and thumbprints on my hipbones I am bare and open to the swings from angles I’m too timid to look at.
And I’d compare you to a shield but the way you lay your forehead on my collarbone tells me I’m your star too.
Please learn to forgive me for the countless obsessions I have with the way you move but something’s got to keep me occupied on December nights
and if I’m forced to live through memories twenty years from now
I’ll remember Marlboro kisses and green apple chap stick
and the way you gaze at me like I’ve become everything I’ve ever wished to be.
When the rain turns to snow before your eyes I want you to reminisce on the frigid palm of my hand and the way it fit so naturally in your own.
I can only ask that you please don’t forget me when I’m nothing but a star in another galaxy
I’m sure I cannot repress these December nights.
