I am a raven. I am a crow. I am a nappy bat. I am a mosquito. Call me anything black that has wings and flies.<br /> ~Glenis Redmond

I glanced up to the sky and captured a glimpse of beauty with my lips
As I gasped at this sight
And I smiled through the questioning stares of my siblings
Because I knew I was the only one who saw it…
Hope
In an elegant form
Hiding behind the bulking clouds of a tropical storm.
It played peek-a-boo behind the hands of despair
And I stopped and stared at the wonder my eyes held
Because it was precious.
Precious like Push.
Precious like life.
Precious like the tale of a battered soul who couldn’t escape the ghetto.
It was precious, so I held tight
And I held strong to the memory
Even after my eyes left the scene
Because I knew it was serene
And I felt that it was rare.
You see, behind the clouds of Tropical Storm Lee
Was sunshine and clear sky...
Let me rephrase that.
You see, behind these projects are potential bright minds.
Behind that smile is a heart that needs healing.
Behind those tears is a place of forgiving.
Behind that wall is a land of promise.
Behind what your eyes behold is a story untold.
Behind those rain clouds was a promise
That the storm would come to pass.
You see,
behind Tropical Storm Lee
There was hope…
and I saw it.
So I’m grateful.

I was inspired by a little thing most people would overlook.
