Shoes to Fill
Akin to the dark
He walks in those worn shoes
Falling apart
Down long, dark avenues
Yes, those shoes he is wearing
Are far from his own
O, they’re shoes of that man
That he’s long wished to know
The one he has looked to
All of his hard life
Now long gone and buried
Result from their strife
Never once talked to
Not once conversed
Their eyes did the talking
For all it was worth
Down yawning corridors
He paces in time
With that poor man’s story
Still spoken in rhyme
