The Girl With The Paper Heart
Heartbroken soul,
Wandering lost,
Needs to find Heaven,
Whatever the cost.
Wants to be found,
So cold and alone,
Still walking the earth,
She wants to go home.
Though broken and bleeding,
She cannot return,
Her soul floats away,
Her heart left to burn.
The tears may never dry,
The heartbreak may never heal,
Her heart reduced to ashes,
There’s no heart left for him to steal.
Her tears smolder the fire,
Bottom lip quivering slightly,
Though the wind and the rain do not make her waver,
You can hear her cries as she murmurs them silently.
As she stopped playing his game,
The hurt began to lift,
The heart rekindles in the flame,
Reborn again as one last gift.
At last, her heart beats strong again,
He’s out of her life; no more heart sore,
She can toss her sorrows to the wind and smile,
The girl with the paper heart would cry no more.
