The Opossum
By night the opossum is brother to the rat.
He likes to sneak around like a big black cat.
His tail makes a snake slithering on the ground.
His eyes are so dark it’s hard to tell their round.
He galivants through garbage during the night.
Among the houses he roams without a fight.
But when he comes across a predator while looking for bread,
We are afraid to see him when he plays dead:
For something so terrifying and creepy to see
When possums are present they’re intelligent like me.
