MY neighbor
Practically all the objects have a specific smell when they are new. Y particularly loves the smell of a new book. Sadly, when you finish the book the smell is gone forever.
Years ago, I was anxiously waiting for the new Harry Potter and my wonderful mother bought me that book the first day it came in Belgium. My neighbor wanted to buy it too, but there were all gone, Harry Potter was sold out … So she asked me if I could give it to her when I was finished with it and I said “ Ok no problem ! “.
One week later, after an intense reading of the book I ended it and I went to my neighbor.
When she gave me back my book, it wasn’t the same; my new Harry Potter was totally destroyed.
I loved the cover of that book so much, with the splendid gold title Harry Potter in relief, I don’t know how and why she did that horrible act, but she scratched the gold off. She also dog-eared the corner of the pages, there was tomato stain, some pages were ripped and the pages had a horrible smell of fish.
It was a massacre.
