This is the story of two teenage high school athletes who had it all, but didn’t really take advantage of their talent to see where it would them in the future. Two teenagers named Marcus and Eddie ,but both from different races and didn’t have a problem about it. They were always together and became best friends; they got the name Black and White . Both Eddie and Marcus are the stars of  the basketball team and are willing to continue to play together in college and see where basketball would take them in life.
This book can show you how fast it really is to mess up your life, with just one bad decision. Something serious like attempted murder can stay with you for the rest of your life. If you're trying to find a job, but you have that on your record it would be really difficult for you. It doesn’t just show how fast you can ruin your life but also how friendship can be torn apart really fast.
The author Paul Volponi did an excellent job in writing "Black and White" about two different teenage boys from different races and showing their ups and downs. He talks a lot about how life really is and that someone that is your best friend might not always have your back and when you need them the most they probably won't be able to.
