The Fault In Our in Stars is one of the best fiction books I’ve ever read. The author, John Green, has not only written The Fault In Our Stars but is also the author of books like Looking For Alaska, An Abundance of Katherines, and Paper Towns. With all the thrilling and emotional events that he wrote in these books, he is able to keep his readers at the edge of their seats! One of the main characters is Hazel Grace Lancaster. She has thyroid cancer that has spread to her lungs. Hazel has a pretty negative point of view on life. Her mom notices that she is depressed and decides to send her to a support group. The first thing that catches her eye is Augustus Waters. He had osteosarcoma but is now cancer free after having his leg amputated. They start talking and get to know eachother. They both share their favorite books. Hazel’s was An Imperial Affliction and Augustus’s favorite book was The Price Of Dawn. They decide to read each other’s favorite book. After reading An Imperial Affliction they both become obsessed about finding out the unsolved ending. There is this foundation called the Wish. It gives dying children any one wish. Sadly Hazel used hers to go to Disneyland, but luckily Augustus still had his! He said that he would be happy to take her to Amsterdam to meet Peter Van Houten, the author of An Imperial Affliction. Hazel’s mom and her doctors are pretty skeptical about the idea though. Eventually they are able to go to Amsterdam, accompanied by Hazel’s mom. They have beautiful and romantic adventures, but once they meet Peter Van Houten they are disappointed. He’s a mean drunk who didn’t answer any of Hazel’s questions. His assistant, Lidewij, was kind enough to take Hazel and Augustus exploring around Amsterdam. One of the places they went was Anne Frank’s house where they finally kissed. When they had gotten home, multiple surprising events started to occur, the book ended in a devastating twist. I cannot explain the emotional adventure that this book gave me. It was sad, yet it had a sense of humor. I am glad that I read this book, and I know you would be too.
