Prisoner B-3087

The author of prisoner B-3087 is Alan Gratz. He has written many books including Samurai Shortstop. Which was named one of the ALA`s 2007 top ten best books for young adults. He was born in Knoxville Tennessee. Alan is now a full time writer living in western north Carolina with his wife, and daughter.
Prisoner B-3087 takes place in Krakow, Poland in 1939. The main characters of the story are Yanek, Hitler, Yanek`s father, Yanek`s mother Aunt Gizela, Uncle Moshe, and Yanek`s cousins. Yanek and his family are all Jewish, and are trying to survive an invasion from the Nazis. They are all very vigilant, and watch each other`s backs.
One day while Yanek and his family are eating, and Yanek is doing a slide show for his family the radio bursts on. They hear a voice telling them that Krakow is being invaded by the Nazis. Then they turn towards the window as they hear a big “boom”! They see the Nazis are blocking them in.
One by one all of the Jews start to get taken out of their houses by the Nazis. Then before they know it big groups of Jews are being taken away. Later when his family gets taken away to die he realizes that he has to support himself in life now. Later while he is helping out at a salon he gets taken away by the Nazis to work at a concentration camp. He ends up going to ten Concentration camps.
Will Yanek make it through all ten Concentration camps and pull of what has never been done as a kid. If he does how does he do it. Yanek faces many challenges along the way while at the camps.
The tone of this book is definitely most of the time. But every now and the it is clever. Most of the time they are all cowering in fear afraid of being taken away by the Nazis. But to get food to survive you need to be very clever. While Yanek is in prison the tone is clever all the time.
I think that this is a very good book. I would give it four stars as well. I thought that it was a very easy book to get through, and a good read. I would recommend this book for some people. But this book may offend others.
