First Person Plural by Dr. Cameron West MAG
Usually when you see someone with a mental disorder, one thought pops into your head: crazy. That's what I thought too, until I read First Person Plural by Dr. Cameron West. This book is an eye-opening and page-turning memoir about living with dissociative identity disorder (a.k.a. multiple personality disorder).
West is a typical middle-aged man when we first meet him. But he has a secret – one even he is unaware of. His sickness starts off as strange, haunting, and demonic voices yelling in his head, along with bizarre nightmares that leave him covered in sweat. Then he starts to have out-of-body experiences. Eventually, West is diagnosed with dissociative identity disorder, a rare but serious condition. It is after this revelation that the book dives into a world of complicated emotions and fears most people can't even imagine.
Dr. West is a truly gifted author, painting a picture with clarity. Besides some graphic scenes, this book is surprisingly uplifting. This is a great read for anyone who has faced a seemingly impossible challenge.
First Person Plural is an amazing, life-changing book that many can appreciate and relate to. It makes us realize that some of the best stories come from life's trials.
