The Last Shot

The Last Shot is a great fit for sport lovers and anyone who loves a suspenseful mystery. It is written by John Feinstein, an author who has written many other sport books, including two of the best-selling nonfiction sports books in history, A Good Walk Spoiled and A Season on the Brink. Feinstein also is a columnist for many different newspapers, including the Washington Post, Golf Digest, and The Sporting News. There’s also a series after this first book, The Last Shot.
The story begins in Philadelphia; with a young journalist named Steve wins a youth reporting contest to cover the Final Four in New Orleans. Steve and another reporter will cover the Final Four and write reports and interviews about the games. Steve is thinking what could go wrong? Well, everything. Steve overhears a coach telling the future NBA star point guard of Minnesota State that he better throw the championship game, or, “they both know what will happen.” So Steve and the other winner, Susan Carol, investigate. What happens to them is a mystery until you read it, but I can tell you a little, there’s blackmailing, capturing, and even guns to keep the big secret of Minnesota State University wrapped up.
If I would to rate this book, I would give it a 9 out of 10. It is a really amazing book, with suspense and action around every corner, perfect for a sport loving action addict. You have to read soon. It is really that great.
