The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd
"The Secret Life of Bees" is an endearing story about a young girl named Lily Owens who encounters racism, women rights, abuse, and life in general. Lily, the main character, is forced to grow up knowing that she is the reason her mother is not around. She desperately searches for answers about not only her mother but herself as well. When meeting May, June, and August she learns to move forward with her life, love in a way she never knew, and live without questioning her mothers choices. I really enjoyed this book and I'm usually not a big reader but the writings of Sue Monk Kidd really grabbed my attention and I finished the book in about a day. If you fell in love with the movie, you have to read the book!
