If you like a good, fast-moving fantasy book, as I do, this book is a must. It is a story of a hobbit, Bilbo Baggins, who, like the rest of his race, is a very civilized, non-adventurous type. The last thing on Bilbo's simple mind is an adventure, and, of course, that is exactly what he gets. A wizard, who is leading a party of dwarves is looking for a 14th companion (for 13 is an unlucky number) and asks Bilbo to join.

Bilbo reluctantly agrees, and sets off to help reclaim the treasure of the dwarves that an evil dragon had stolen. On his way to the dragon's lair, he and his party run into more than one exciting obstacle (giant spider, wolves, evil elves...), and Bilbo realizes that there is more courage in him than he knew.

I won't ruin the story by telling you the end, but it is an end worth reaching. This story is the prelude to the exciting trilogy: Lord of the Rings, which continues the story of hobbits.
