I read “Golden Summer” by Kennis Dees. I loved how this story vividly described a summer where two girls had the time of their lives. I can connect to this poem because I have had many of those summers with my best friend, Hallie. We have been through so much together, and I have shared every summer with her since long before either of us remember. But, even though I have that similarity with this story, I could never imagine losing Hallie. She is like a part of me, and if she were ever gone, that part of me would go with her. This story was very inspirational to me, and it made me realize how much more grateful I should be that I still have Hallie to share my summers with. I admire Dees' strength to get over losing a friend.
