Dying Flames
Kisses that clash with his hazelnut eyes
Kindness that masks his charred soul of lies
Darling, have you breathed snow
Then exhaled the sun’s brilliant glow?
We graze on greens among the finer things
To our aged tongues they’re dainty dustings
Retirement unlocks empty rooms.
That we must fill before our tombs.
Death slowly becomes a dark desire
Waiting patiently, like logs to a fire.
