Music to me
Is sound in a key,
A series of letters A through G,
With harmony and melody.
Intervals, triads, and chords
With which I am never bored.
Major and minor scales,
The system that never fails,
Beautiful sound,
Through generations found.
A mirror of the human race,
Typically simpler than figured bass.
It’s easy to forget with what you’re dealing;
The strongest source of human feeling.

This poem was inspired by years of musical training, and while it is in sonnet format, it is also an ode to music.
