Her
Her hair glistens while mine merely shimmers
Her smile sparkles while mine merely shines
Her voice carols while mine merely whimpers
But I desperately wish she were mine.
Always just second best I find myself,
As I gaze grudgingly at the mirror.
But despite that I am still quite compelled
To finally love her and her endear.
Alas, she does not know my jealousy
She thinks we are friends and not tormental
My secret battle stays a mystery
How I adore her yet feel resentful
I wish I could reveal my true feelings
But fruitless I find to be my pleadings.

This is a poem about the evils of jealousy and comparison, and how it can get in the way of much more powerful emotions, like love.
