Moonwater
You once told me you loved the moon
How she pushed away and pulled in
How she turned murky waters clear
How she shone her brightest when full
How she was clothed with mystery
You yearned to see her dark side
To know what happened when the moon went away
So much that you built a rocket
And flew to meet her
And when you missed your stop
I was there waiting among the stars
Hoping you’d see what you’d been missing
What you were looking for
I was the dark side you’d not yet considered
As you longed for another
And as your eyes opened
And you awoke to a new galaxy
I asked you
Can you love me like the moon?
This is a love poem inspired by a crush that I have.
