"Don't choke on your aspirations" -Darth Vader

I'm breaking out of this prison cell
That I once called a home
Cause any love i had for him
Is long gone
I don't notice the little things
That I used to feel
So now before my time is up
I'm getting a taste of what's real

Hush now, little baby
Don't you say a word
Don't you tell your daddy all the things that you’ve heard
I’m here now, little baby
Here to say goodnight
So say your little prayers and we’re gonna be alright

I’m getting out of this war zone
They said would keep us safe
I wish i could take you with me
But leaving you means my escape
Give my regards to the officers
For taking their precious time
But keep an eye out for danger
Events could turn on a dime

Hush now, little baby
Don't you say a word
Don't you tell your daddy all the things that you've heard
I'm here now, little baby
Here to say goodnight
So say your little prayers and we’re gonna be alright

All the women in this town respect me
They know what I do is hard
But the words of those I’ve never met
Have left me scarred
I’m separate in all aspects of my life
From all my friends but one
But she went and left me behind
And now what’s done is done

Hush now, little baby
Don't you say a word
Don't you tell your daddy all the things that you've heard
I'm here now, little baby
Here to say goodnight
So say your little prayers and we’re gonna be alright

When I wrote this song, I was building off the first two lines of the chorus, which were from a song my mother had written a long time ago but forgot all but those lines. It's about three women- the first is getting out of a bad marriage, the second is escaping from a ghetto during WWII, and the third is an african american woman living in the 50's who is moving to get away from racism in her town. It is from the point of view of those women when they are speaking to their children right before they leave.
