You Could Kiss Me
I’ve been trying to be patient,
But you know I am a mess,
I am falling into pieces
And it’s not too hard to guess,
If you’re looking for someone
To keep you warm at night,
You could hold me by your side,
And I swear it’d be all right
If you said forget it in the morning,
I’d nod and give a smile,
Glad for the chance not to be alone
For at least a little while.
If you get the urge to pull me close,
You don’t need to miss me.
I’m expecting nothing from you,
But you could always kiss me.
I’ve been trying to be patient,
But you know I am a mess,
I am falling into pieces,
From these feelings I suppress.
I’m avoiding all things awkward,
While wanting something more,
Scared to make a move forward,
While wanting to explore.
So if you’re looking for someone
To keep you warm at night,
You could hold me by your side,
And it wouldn’t change a mite.
You can forget it in the morning,
Blame it on being tipsy,
While I’m trying to be patient,
Know that you could kiss me.
