Nothing matters more than those who depend on you, emotionally or physically. Even if the situation is life or death, you have to be there for them, because they need you.

There are so many people overseas
With friends who love them and families
So many people who've lost the ones they loved
Like (Chorus: The boy I met summer of 83
My cousin who just made his family
He's over there
Protecting the ones he loves
Like my best friend from 89
The girl who did love her sweet cherry wine
All missing the place where they belong
Oh God
Please bring them home)
My sweetheart back from high school
Enrolled in the army 'cause he thought it was cool
Now he's gone and that's one more grave
In the graveyard like
(Chorus: The man I knew as my grandpa
The woman who was in the war in Iraq
On the street she always said hello
Like the sweet little girl who was so pretty
That boy who traveled overseas
All died in the name of America
Oh God
Please bring them home)
I got an email from my daddy recently
Talking about my brother who's in the army
Turned out he didn't make it after all
Like (Chorus: The guy who sat behind me in math
The girl who said I didn't have class
Guess now she was wrong
Like my uncle who left home last year on the ninth
My cousin who lost his life
Right before his darling son was born
Oh God
Please bring them home)
Oh whoa
Dear God
Please be so kind
Bring the rest of our soldiers
Home
Oh whoa
Bring them
Back
Home

I have friends in the army, and I love them to death. They sometimes talk about it, and it makes me so sad to hear what they've gone through... (I'm not as old as the song makes me sound, but the years just made it flow and rhyme better.) I just want our soldiers back home. <3
