“You have to write the book that wants to be written. And if the book will be too difficult for grown-ups, then you write it for children.”
― Madeleine L'Engle

Green is the color of my soul
Green as a leaf on a board on a walkway over a body filled with my own destruction
Green as eyes looking down over feet scarred by years without shoes and miles still to walk
Green as the grasshopper sitting still on the walk down to the water down to my death
Green as the frog sleeping in the mud under which my path criss crosses
Green as the algae my tentative fingers sweep through as I walk to my next destination
Green as the water filled with flowers from my steps through mud
Green as skin tingeing as my breath lets out like little butterflies
Green as lungs welcoming in the water like old friends into its home
Green is the color of my soul

@The_Fanged_Book_Worm Great poem! Love the word choice, and I can feel the emotions.
