Some Wordplay MAG

You know you're in love with
some wordplay
when alliterations
become an addiction,
and you can't stop
the subtle rhyming scheme
repeating itself,
repeating itself.

I know I'm in love with
double meanings
in phrases,
and words that mean nothing,
because they mean everything to me.
Little phrases that lose their meaning over time
fade in your eyes; not mine.

When's the last time you took
“I love you” seriously?
(It's too cliché to say with a
straight face.)

In moments of awkward silences,
I wish I could take my pen and
Fillinthebanksbetweenyourlips.

Oh, and lines that go on forever …
run-on sentences … I adore you …
(That's my speedway … my literary highway …)

Seduce my mind
and speak those words to the point of
contradiction.
Hypocrisy never seemed so beautiful.
Your lips have it down to an
art.

Intonation and inflection
on the end of your statements
make you so
indecisive.
(Never stop asking … )

Oh, I know I'm in love with
wordplay.
Speak to me,
'til your lips are numb.
We'll always have pen and paper.

When you look at me, you see only a fraction of my reflection, and my reflection shows only a fraction of me.

\"Faith is universal. Our specific methods for understanding it are arbitrary. Some of us pray to Jesus, some us go to Mecca, some of us study subatomic particles. In the end we are all just searching for truth, that which is greater than ourselves....Science tells me God must exist. My mind tells me I will never understand God. And my heart tells me I am not meant to.\"-Vittoria Vetra, Angels and Demons

This poem really speaks to me. It's a comfort to know that I'm not the only one who feels that way about words.

And the stanza about the way people inflect so that everything sounds like a question...so true! It makes me so angry. :-)

This is one of my favorite poems. I wanted to write my favorite part, but that's most of the poem. Really good job!

"In moments of awkward silences,

Fillinthebanksbetweenyourlips."

My absolute favourite verse.
