I am a runner
I can test my limits
With my own footfalls
I am an athlete
Determined, relentless
When I run
I am alive
Energy coursing through my veins
My breaths are short
But my strides are long
Sweat crashes over me
Like waves in the ocean
But the pain is only temporary
The finish line an oasis of glory
Calling out to me to persevere
Faster, faster, faster...
I am a runner
Free to choose my own path
And determine my own destiny
