Dear Brother
You’ll never know how much you mean to me.
What it was like when you disappeared,
thinking you’d gone to your death.
I couldn’t look at your room without crying.
Then what it was like to get you back,
only for you to leave again,
and once again leave me behind.
How I stood by the phone,
waiting for a call,
that deep down,
I knew wasn’t coming.
We thought that you were dead,
those weeks you disappeared.
You have no idea what that was like.
Because you don’t know how much you mean to me.
You’ll never know what I went through,
those weeks you disappeared.
Now we go weeks without hearing from you.
When that hurricane hit,
once again I thought you were dead.
That I’d lost you once more.
Then to get a single text
“They moved me to Tennessee, I’m all right.”
I almost screamed.
Weeks of silence
and all we get is one lousy text.
You don't know what this was like.
Because you don’t know how much you mean to me.
It’s been over a year since I’ve seen you.
I don’t know when I see you if I’ll hug you
or punch you.
Most likely both.
All I know is,
that I’ll be crying the whole time.
Because you don’t know how much,
you have no idea,
how much you really mean to me.
