What is swimming?
What is swimming?
Its eagerly waiting for the whistle on the block,
the way diving makes you feel free and the way you grasp for air.
Its that feeling you get when you glide through the water
one stroke at a time.
Its how your heart is beating a million times a minute when you are barely breathing.
Its spending hours a day going from one end of the pool to the other.
Coming to school at 5 am to dive into the pool and swim for two hours,
Going through the day exhausted and in pain,
still knowing you have another two hours after school.
It's the time you take outside of the water doing drylands,
The way your shoulders ache every moment of the day.
It's the way you can lose yourself in your own thoughts.
The way your arms hit the water,
the way your legs get sore from kicking too hard.
It's the way your body trembles after a meet from working yourself too hard.
The way you run and check your times to see if you dropped time.
This is swimming.
Theres good and bad.
Takes time and effort.
It leaves you in pain.
However at the end I would never give it up.
