Is it wrong?
Sometimes I wonder if it wrong to question if I am broken
Because I have not yet been kissed
And other times i do not
Sometimes I imagine what it would feel like to have someone
Who loved me enough to embrace me on a random street corner
Like no one was watching
And other times I do not
Is it wrong to want a love like that
Not one of passion and desire that melts the skin
But one of sunny days and quick embraces
Is it wrong to try and picture the fleeting feeling of fingers
Wrapped in mine as hands swing together
Instead of the feeling of fingers trailing against sweat soaked skin
Is it wrong?
Is it wrong to want sunday afternoons wrapped in blankets
Tucked together for warmth on a couch with a book
Instead of Friday nights wrapped in an alcohol haze
Tangled together in fits of lust
Is it wrong?
If I asked the questions swirling in my head I would say
I’m asking for a friend
In case I was wrong
Because we live in a place dominated by senses of lust and passion
Surrounded by fire and a burning world
So lost are people in their carnal desires that they forget
That some people take it slow and wait
Some people don’t want things like that at all
And other are just confused
Because they don’t know if it is wrong
We raise children to avoid the subject of lust
While the world presents it to them on a big screen
Not realizing that they will all be confused
Until one by one they are not
Leaving those of us who don’t understand
Blinking in the dust wondering if we are broken
Is it wrong to want nothing more than to sit on a couch
Listening to laughter of the person I care about
Instead of hearing them tell me sweet nothings
That won’t mean anything five minutes from now
Is it wrong?
You’ll probably tell me it isn’t
That it’s what many people want
But when the movies I watch and the books I read
Mostly contain the second option
I’ll question your responses and wonder if your telling me the truth
So I’ll wait and ask my questions
Until I get a response worth hearing
Is that wrong?
I’m asking for a friend.
