Bad things happened.
The little boy’s ice cream cone
Melted and fell onto the concrete.
The old man who lived around the corner
Was shot for his wallet.
The single mother who promised her son they would see each other again
Was banned from the country.
The baby cried out to his mother
Who could no longer hear him.
Bad things happened.
But the eagle keeps soaring
And tomorrow is Christmas
And we’re expecting a full moon tonight,
Stars and everything.
So bad things will keep happening.
