notes to self
we were sitting off the edge of a bridge over a river
“i think i have the fix to your problem”
my shoelaces were untied
“yeah? what is it?”
“it’s called living.”
simultaneously; i always knew and i never knew
“sounds like dying”
the river kept moving
three stars fell out of the sky
“yeah,”
a few sparks flew from your mouth and politely
extinguished themselves
“it’s that too.”
the greening copper of the bridge changed the color of my legs
the sun rose
and set
and rose and set and rose again
until 7 days had passed
we built every animal and every building
we became
and dissolved
my feet touched the water rushing miles below us
shoelaces crawled from their confines
and swam down the river without us
and it was good
