Onism
I am not a bird I do not fly above tree tops or swoop in on French fries abandoned in the sand
I am not an elephant I can not stampede or have my child hold my tail, I can not drink from my trunk or die of a broken heart
no, I am not a dolphin I wish I could jump from wave to wave and make sailors smile I could not kill myself by refusing to breathe I am not that brilliant
and I know I am not the lady you love. you do not kiss my mouth and you do not tell me I am beautiful. I have known you half a dozen years, through seventy eight cycles of the moon, through five of the cycles of sagittarius. I am not her. I do not torture your soul and twist the veins of your heart.
I am I. I cherish your being, the v in your hips and the freckles on your back. I am me. I might love you forever. I bend for you and break for the both of us. I am I.
