Is a dance they don’t teach you
Until your secrets are bleeding
Until your body is trembling
And your eyes are left raw

The People Dance
Is a dance you don’t see
Until you’ve seen your mother cry
Until you’ve broken down on the bathroom floor
And your mouth tastes like metal

The People Dance
Is a dance of despair
Of disarray
Of disquiet
The People Dance
Is the only dance of true pain
