Beginning Again
Autumn’s colorful leaves have fallen.
The trees light has begun to dull.
Ominous and gray, the sky hangs heavy in the air.
Children no longer play outside, and the wind moans in solitude.
Days become dark and bitter.
Why must he color fade?
Why must the sun hide?
Why must time hesitate?
Dark clouds roll slowly across the sky.
Tears freeze as the world weeps.
A desert of white, frozen tears buries the lonely earth.
People fear this solitude that threatens to come inside.
Days are dark and bitter.
Where is the sky that widens beyond the clouds?
Where is the sun that brings warmth to the world?
Where is the color of life that lifts people's hearts?
Smoke from the blood red chimneys suffocates the sky.
Snow weighs heavily on the lifeless trees.
Harsh, cold wind brings a storm of great suffering and sadness.
Snow hardens into a land of ice.
Days remain dark and bitter.
When will the suffering end?
When will the life return?
When will the stormy sky disperse?
Sunlight finally fends off the gray sky.
The ice covered earth cracks... then shatters.
Trees begin to sprout new hope.
Storms have calmed and the time must continue.
Days were dark and bitter.
How will the earth regain its former glory?
How will the sky be clear and happy again?
How will we make it through?
It all begins with you.

What inspired me to write this piece was the death of a person very dear to me and this poem represents the hard struggle to move on and accept the harsh reality. I hope people can use this poem to help them find some hope and truth about the world around them.
