Bullet Wounds
Did I get shot?
Crying as I walk through the door.
What did you do to me?
What did I do to me?
I'd give anything for you,
anything to be enough for you.
That one you used to love left.
When she started coming around again
you didn't speak to me;
you were still so enamoured with her.
You,
the only one that makes waking up bearable.
I won't say I love you.
I can't afford to.
Then another.
Another shot to the chest.
A new love for you.
She came through like smoke,
blinding,
entrancing,
distracting.
You didn't say a word to me.
I felt so alone.
I still feel alone.
I was trying to prepare myself for the inevitable.
For you to forget me.
Who knew that not only would you forget,
but replace me entirely at the exact same time?
Did I get shot?
I did.
But you never told me
that you knew how to use a gun.
