How to See
When you hold something interesting,
a child will spew "Let me see!"
and hold out their hands
because we have been taught
that you cannot see without feeling-
You cannot see if a girl is beautiful
without touching her body
and you cannot see if a boy is valuable
without feeling his flexed muscles.
We live in a world of fingers and hands
and we all know that
'sex comes before friendship'
just like the good book teaches.
Right?
We need to close our palms like we have our hearts
and open our eyes because the
nerves in our fingers are not connected
to the rods and cones in our eyes.
When you want to see something,
open your eyes and use your hands
to pry open your heart
Close your mouth and listen
because the world has so much to say
and still so much more for us to see.
