Broken Hearted
There.
You greet me.
Opening your arms to me,
Welcoming me into you.
Acceptance.
But then you leave,
and my heart is cracked in two,
left on the sidewalk,
crying and wounded.
Day by day,
night by night,
I wait.
Hopeful for your return.
A neverending loop,
tears to let it out,
smiles to cover it up,
and you do return.
But it isn’t the same.
Trust has already been broken.
Smashed.
I can feel it.
Maybe,
I thought you were mine,
but I lost you forever.
