The Sunset
As I stand here in this empty field
Bees are buzzing and birds chirping
Soil shifting with every step
The sun is burning bright and red
Slowly starting to disappear over the horizon
I close my eyes and listen closely to every sound
It reminds me that there's still beauty
And in that moment
I am whole

Sunsets have always been one of my favorite things. In some of the darkest moments in my life I have always been able to find beauty in the sunset and it's something that I enjoy being able to see and capture every chance I get. It's a constant reminder that it's the little things in life that go a long way. It has always been one of those simple things in life that clears my head for a little while so I wanted to capture that in this poem.
