I'm Human Too

Angry words and vengeful tones
dripped like poison
from our lips.
We were both to blame.
But you said you're just human,
so it's okay.
What about me?
Aren't I human too?
You said it was all my fault,
but then you said
you loved me.
I don't understand.
Your words are salt in my wounds,
so I'll just say
I'm sorry.
But are you sorry?

Thank you so much for the comment, Liv! :D This poem was written in the spur of the moment...my mom and I had just finished arguing and I was angry and hurt and in tears...and this is what happened. Haha that's probably why it has so much feeling an emotion :) But I think that the poems we write in the heat of a moment-- at the peak of our emotion-- are often the best because we're getting an unfiltered flow of thoughts straight from our minds and hearts onto the paper.

We all feel like this sometimes, and it makes getting rid of grudges that much harder. Sometimes we blame others because we're human, and forget that they're jhuman as well, so it seems like one of those "Practice what you preach" things. I really loved this, it embodies so much feeling and emotion, and makes us realize how many times we've felt like this too. :) 5 Stars!
I wrote this poem right after my mom and I had a big argument. It's sort of an apology, but it's also more than that. My mom justified her actions by pointing out that she's just human and humans make mistakes. But then she blamed me for my mistakes. So what does that make me? An alien? I'm human too, and I make mistakes...it's just life. How come she justified her actions, but I have to take the blame for all of mine? And then she went and told me she loved me...which I know is true, but her timing made it seem hypocritical.
