Directions
I neglected my compass,
And never gave thought to my direction.
The path below pointed me onward.
The forest was never more than a colorful blur in my travels..
I grew familiar with the path below my feet.
I did not stray from it, nor admire nature.
The sun touched my skin; the air was warm and crisp.
Sweat crawled down to my lips; it tasted like the ocean.
Suddenly the path began to fade,
Dissolving into the forest.
I am lost and all is still.
The forest is cruel and slows my pace, like walking through a pool.
The sun dips below the trees and my body shutters.
I wanted to explore in all directions, each was unique.
However, none look more tempting than another.
