The symbols behind our lies
the symbols behind our lies
Symbol-
a thing that represents
or stands for something else
a symbol is a dove
meaning peace
or a flag
meaning freedom
but is it a symbol
when we say
we're fine
when we're still angry?
or when we smile
when we want to frown?
And I suppose,
sometimes we don't know
what we mean
or why we lie
because in reality
a dove isn't peace
and a flag isn't freedom
and a smile doesn't mean we're happy
and "i'm fine" doesn't mean we're not angry
And i wonder this,
what do they mean
and what, I ask you
do our lies symbolize

I wrote this poem based off the idea of applying technical ideas in school (terms that we learn about) to emotional and less clear things.
