I Used To, But Not Anymore
September 1, 2014
I used to build walls around my heart ---
walls of glass,
which where my silent tears,
silently flowed
and dripped
down
inside of me.
I built the walls
because I was afraid to care.
Because my past
had taught me
to be frightened of goodness;
I was a walking heartache,
that time,
a long time ago.
I tried to be a rock,
so I wouldn't get hurt
and so I couldn't feel;
but I at that time,
I didn't realize
that we weren't made
to be hard,
we weren't made to be inhuman;
because we're humans,
and we can't help
but care and feel.
I used to,
but not anymore,
and you can too ---
it's never too late,
unless you decide
it's too late.

Beautiful work! I can totally relate to this poem. I love the flow of it. I know those nights when you have inspiration and you just NEED to write. Anyway, great job and keep on writing!

This is gorgeous :D I loved the intricate way it flowed along, and very ending when you said that it's never too late unless you decide it is. This is very powerful and exceedingly wonderful! I hope you publish your [pems in a book someday :)

Hey Emily! I'm Sorry it's been awhile since i responded,life's been pretty busy. But I absolutely love this poem. It's beautiful!! I can totally relate to the poem and the fact that you wrote it so early. It's like if i don't write it now i'll never sleep. It burns in your chest and mind until it controls you forcing you to pick up the pen and pour your heart out. I love it and I love You!!. It is almost scary how much I relate to this. You put into words how I felt before, so thanks you, it makes me feel a bit better reading this in a way :) Beautiful poem, keep writin', love ;)
Haha, would you believe me if I told you that I wrote this poem at 1:03 am? Haha, I had to write while I had the inspiration. I used my experiences, my feelings, and my thoughts as I wrote this. I used to do this before, but now I don't anymore. Because someone important changed my life. And know that it's never too late, unless you decide it's really too late. But it is never too late, until the very end. I hope this all makes sense, and that my poem makes sense. I hope ya'll enjoy it, and thank ya'll for reading it. ^_^
