A Dream Deferred

A baby bird who flew
For the first time ever.
His name was Squirt
With a dream deferred.
He flew that 13th on Tuesday,
Slightly ready to spread his wings.
Walking and ready to run away
While trying to be in safe distance near "Mommy".
His last flight was from a jump to the ground,
And he enjoyed the moment.
I know he's gone with good memories
While he's flying in Heaven
With an Earth-dream deferred.
