Tick-Tock
The air is stale
You stare at the clock as it drops to the
next minute like molasses
Hoping your intense beady eyed look will
make it move faster
But that would mean time is on your side
The forest green and sickly gray
surroundings start to bore into your soul
And you wonder if you’ll make it out alive
Feeling the prickling of sleep and numbness crawl
over your body
Trying with all the energy you could find to shake it
off muttering
“I can do this. I can do this”
“Don’t give up now, not when you’re so close”
An abrupt metal sound is heard finally signaling
Freedom
