Thought From Your Voice
Thoughts From Your Voice
You were my reflection,
And I was your connection.
I look at you now,
And realize how far you’ve come.
You used to be a bird with no song,
Your words took so long.
What was easy for me,
Was hard for you,
But you kept at it,
And you pushed through.
You plodded along like a weary traveler in the desert,
And fought an adversary that no one saw.
I hear your laughter ring,
Unknowing that tomorrow,
You may not have the heart to sing.
I remember our secret talks,
And the confused looks you got.
We were the notes to your rhythmless song,
And you, the battered drum,
That held out for so long.
