The Sun Is Numb
the sun sinks to its grave in the hills
and the suit buries himself in bills
but no one notices the little boy
no one bothers to see who he kills
the sun sinks to its grave in the sea
but in the darkness no one sees
the little boy and the girl he loves
donning armor of aprons and latex gloves
the sun peeks out from the horrors of the night
these twisted little consciences start to put up a fight
there’s evidence this time, a red streak on her dress
they can’t do anything without making a mess
the sun hides behind clouds fraught with rain
staying in place but screaming in pain
the universe swirling, whirling, closing in
what a great bloody life this has been
the sun soars to its throne in the sky
the little boy and girl sitting on left and right
in their own golden seats, watching you and me
living ever after happily
