letters become painful to spell out
and resentment takes place within the
nethermost caverns of our thrashing hearts

each individual minute
bids us the offer of absolution and conclusion
but the doggedness and the inflexibility
of our understanding of one another
ultimately vaporize the framework of perception
that we have labored so earnestly on

enviousness is the motive that segregates us
from the treasure of intimacy
that is strictly confidential
and experienced by not one other creature

maybe if we allotted an opening
of space to just negotiate
and discuss this mutilated thing called love,
